This database derives from, and is a continuation of, the work begun in 1992 that led to the publication of the Clumber Spaniel Club of America's Stud Books (no longer in print). As a result, its current focus is primarily on the pedigrees of US and Canadian Clumber Spaniels from approximately 1878 to the present. The database does, however, contain the pedigrees of many foreign dogs and once the data on American Clumbers is brought up to date I will update the database with more foreign dogs as time allows.

The primary purpose of this database is to provide pedigrees and breeding records of Clumber Spaniels for the use of breeders, owners, and historians of the breed. It is in no way intended to be an authoritative "registry" for Clumber Spaniels and it includes unregistered dogs as well as registered dogs. Certain conventions have been adopted to increase the functionality of the database and, as a result, there will be occasions where the data (names and titles in particular) presented here does not exactly correspond with the data available from official breed registries.

I urge everyone to read CONVENTIONS USED IN DATABASE (click on link) before going on to other pages of the website. This page will explain some of the idiosyncrasies of the database and should make your visit here more enjoyable.

The data has been collected from a number of sources including breeders and owners, show catalogs, OFA and CERF registries, the AKC Stud Books and new titles, the AKC's online store, and various books and newsletters or magazines on Clumber Spaniels. I believe that the information in the database is given in good faith, but there may be errors. I will endeavor to correct any errors or omissions brought to my attention as time allows. Please use the links below to submit new data or make any corrections to entries already in the database. Keep in mind that the Clumber Spaniel Pedigree Database is a work in progress. The pedigree data for American Clumbers in the database has not been diligently updated since the fall of 2001 but I am now in the process of updating the files to include more recent dogs. In the future, I hope to customize the pedigree pages to include more information on individual dogs. In particular, I would like the pedigrees to include inbreeding coefficients, color, and call or pet name for the target dog, sire, and dam. I may also include photographs of dogs at some time in the future.

* Please note that I will review all data before entering it into the database. I will be uploading new or corrected data as time allows, so submissions may not appear in the database right away.

* I would like to record ALL Clumbers born even if they were never registered or if they are adopted or rescue dogs with uncertain pedigrees.
